From the Desk of Father Dennis
The Baptist’s Cry
John the Baptist appeared, preaching …
‘Repent! For the Kingdom of heaven is at hand!’

Wow! Powerful words echo from John the Baptist, the voice of one crying out in the desert. He is our powerful Advent guide today, calling us to a new innocence in the Lord.

How can each one of us repent? Opening our hearts to the power of the Holy Spirit, we can ask ourselves this question. . .

If John the Baptist preached in our streets today, how would he be received? Would we write him off, telling him my soul is none of his business? Would we ridicule the concept of making straight our (crooked) paths?

Sunday, December 18th – is the communal Reconciliation Service at Sacred Heart in Southbury at 3:00pm. Come, bring family – celebrate Reconciliation, no matter how long it’s been since your last confession. There will be several priests on hand to help. There is a short service before everyone is invited to visit with one of the priests for confession.

Let us repent together, to prepare the way of the Lord.
In Christ’s peace,
Reverend Dennis J. Vincenzo
