From the Desk of Father Dennis

“My Refrigerator”

 “God’s Refrigerator”

 What’s on your refrigerator?

I was sitting the other day eating my breakfast, and as I sipped my coffee I looked up toward my refrigerator. I saw a “save the date” photo from my nephew and his wife’s wedding from 2014, a couple of school pictures of my niece, a phone number and address scribbled on the back of a diner placemat, and a few comic strips (don’t we all have those?). One of them I clipped to send to someone, but I forgot who it was. There are some grocery receipts hanging there, as well as a few business cards of people I was supposed to call two or three Christmases ago. Those of you who are parents and grandparents no doubt have some pictures or other school projects hanging there, perhaps a spelling or math test proudly announcing a good grade.

This friendly detritus describes many of our focal points, as we mark certain life moments, whether mundane or more important (i.e. emergency contact numbers). They offer a glimpse of who we are, where we’re going, or where we’ve been. Many of us vow to “clean off” the fridge, but often don’t get around to it. Go ahead – look at your fridge…no cleaning it before you finish reading this opus.

WHAT’S ON GOD’S REFRIGERATOR?

YOU ARE!!!!!!

You are, as if you are the only person in the world! You are loved, cherished, forgiven, adored, saved [in Christ]…I could go on and fill a million bulletins, and still not exhaust all that God loves about you, and me, and everyone [every SINGLE] person that God has created!

Think about that for 2017.

Refrigerator staring with you,

Reverend Dennis J. Vincenzo
