From the Desk of Father Dennis,

Mary, Undoer of Knots

I found out recently that this devotion to Mary is one of Pope Francis’ favorites. He has had a longtime devotion to Our Lady under this title, and promotes it often.

First, a word about the novena: Mary is depicted in art unravelling knots presented to her by the angels.   It is through her intercession that we take something seemingly intractable, a knot, and turn it over to her. Over the days of the novena, the Rosary is prayed each day. Here is part of the prayer: “Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with your Son and my Liberator, take into your hands today this knot…I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all. You are my hope.”

I suggested to the group who went to the deanery-wide pastoral planning meeting this week that they commit to pray to Mary, the Undoer of Knots, to help with this process. There are going to be a lot of changes in the area, as well as throughout the whole Archdiocese, so it is good to bring it to prayer. Archbishop Blair is committed to basing this whole process on prayer, as each meeting will begin with one half hour of communal and private prayer.

You can obtain the novena to Mary, Undoer of Knots, on Google or at a religious goods store. If there is enough interest, we can make a bulk order and distribute them.

Let us pray together and commend this vital process to the intercession of Mary, the Undoer of Knots.

United in prayer,                                                                                                                                                  Reverend Dennis J. Vincenzo
