From the Desk of Fr. Dennis

Amen for the first time
Wondrous! Joyful! Amazing!  When a young girl or boy receives Communion for the first time, it is one of a Pastor’s greatest joys.To look into those eyes, and hear their “Amen,” their yes, for the first time means all is right with the world.

Yesterday, we celebrated First Holy Communion for thirty-six children.  Each one is uniquely cherished by Jesus who gives His Body and Blood to them. This Gift will nourish them for the rest of their lives.

I dare say that not all in our parish family understand its importance.  I have often said that if every Catholic understood what the Eucharist means, we would break down the door of every Catholic Church to receive the Eucharist.  The Real Presence would satisfy our deepest hungers.  Sadly,  there are many Catholics who do not believe in the Real Presence.  Going to Mass is no longer a priority.  Let us pray together that those who have drifted from their faith, especially the young people, may return by the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

In the Risen One,

 Reverend Dennis J. Vincenzo
