Doing Our Part

Today we have the opportunity to hear Archbishop Blair’s homily via DVD as he preaches to every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Hartford.  He primarily wants to connect with everyone to reflect on God’s Mercy in the Gospel of the Prodigal Son.  The parable is sometimes called the Father with Two Sons or the Merciful Father (I have even seen it referred to as the Profligate Father).

No matter what it is called, it is a timeless parable about love, mercy, and forgiveness.  The youngest son does not deserve the mercy he receives from the father, who welcomes him home with open arms.  We too receive that mercy from God the Father – let us bask in it.

Shortly you will receive a letter from me asking for your participation in the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal for 2016.  Our parish goal is $65,300.00.  Please make an effort to contribute.  No amount is too small (or too large!).

Let us join with Archbishop Blair in supporting the mission and ministries of the Archdiocese.

Peace,

Reverend Dennis J. Vincenzo
