12/20/2015 Pastor’s Message

There is a very moving song by the Christian musician Jeremy Camp called “Same Power.” The same power that can calm a raging sea lives in us…the same that rose Jesus from the grave…the same power that commands the dead to wake…lives in us…the same power that moves mountains when He speaks…greater is He that is living in me…He has conquered our enemy.

I find that very inspiring, and I hum the song when I pray before the manger. The same power in the Incarnation lives in me. Jesus took on human flesh in Mary’s Virgin womb. The same Spirit, the same power, is in us. Is this not the simplicity yet the awesome mystery of Jesus in the manger? He who is fully Human and fully Divine gives me that same power.

Perhaps as we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent we can prepare our hearts more acutely for the birth of the Christ Child. How will we use these few days before Christmas? Can we truly plug into that same power?

In my own name, and that of Deacon Michael Walsh and Deacon Stephen Savarese, and our talented and dedicated staff, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, blessed by the Child Jesus. All the Masses on Christmas are offered for your intentions.

Reverend Dennis J. Vincenzo
