From Fr. Dennis’ Desk.

A Really Holy Family

Today is the Feast of the Holy Family, as we stand in witness with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.  They fled for their lives, narrowly escaping death at the hands of the evil powers of the occupying Romans.  They wandered homeless, and destitute, living a meager existence for a time.  Today they remind us to notice those who flee political oppression, those who do not know where their next meal is coming from (especially children), and the homeless who live on our streets and under our bridges.  Winter is an especially difficult time for those who struggle for shelter, food, and dignity.  Let us be aware of those most in need, as members of the holy family of God.

We cannot find the words to express our thanks for all who helped to make the celebration of Christmas so beautiful.  From beginning to end, as we celebrate these wonderful days and this wonderful season, we have so much to be thankful for!  A special thanks to all those who made beautiful music, the various choirs – adult, youth, alumni, and children who sang at the 6 p.m. Vigil Mass – they are like the Heavenly choirs, the same which announced the birth of the Infant King.  To all those who cleaned and decorated the church (Bravo!!), the servers, readers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, ushers. and all who helped in any way – we extend our deepest thanks!  We hesitate to thank anyone by name, so as not to miss anyone special, but we do want to thank our wonderful staff.  They work every day ‘behind the scenes’ as the smile on the other end of the phone, as those who tend to your child’s growth in the faith, those who keep things running smoothly.  Their names are on the front of the bulletin.  Thank them when you see them!

Christmas Joy,

Fr. Dennis Vincenzo,

Deacon Mike and Deacon Steve
