Time Flies, But God is Always With Us

I recently became reacquainted with a friend who teaches second grade (First Communion) and directs Youth Ministry (Confirmation) at a parish where I used to be stationed. She did a wonderful thing recently—she presented the Confirmation students with their second grade journals (including my own niece). The journals, of course, are written in newly discovered cursive (Do they even teach cursive anymore??); they contain hopes and dreams, as well as observations of who God is, how Jesus acts out of divine Love, and (sometimes) why the Holy Spirit cares at all.

Time Flies (tempus fugit)! We always say this, right?

I thought of my friend Eileen at our Confirmation on September 30th as Archbishop Blair confirmed them, I watched in rapt attention and fervent prayer. They are long far removed from second grade, but God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is ALWAYS with them. God, our Triune Love, lavishes upon His beloved: the Sacraments (think about how precious they are), the Word (when was the last time you read the bible?), and the community of the faithful (the church, the body of Christ).

Holy, God-given, (eternal) life-giving.

In the Triune Love,

Fr. Dennis J. Vincenzo
