Summer Thoughts

When else but on a summer evening can you take such enjoyment from watching fireflies or lazily walking in the warm breeze?. . . the simple beauty of a full and bountiful garden?. . . summer is the time to experience the extraordinary graces of relaxation, slowed place, and getting away in the ordinary experiences of family, friends and nature

J . Paprocki and D.T. Williamson

Great is the Mystery

One need not look far to see that the scriptures “are full of summer images . . . seeds buried in the ground . . . Summer storms on the lake and special trips to come away for a while and rest.”  During this season, Ordinary Time during the summer is bountiful and provokes such richness as the Lord offers His hearers what they know best.  For most of them, their livelihood is agricultural, and mustard seed’s growth would capture their imagination.

How are you spending your summer?  Are you recognizing the Lord’s presence within it?  Maybe we can all pause and rediscover the Lord in all His awesome wonder.

Looking at fireflies,

Fr. Dennis J. Vincenzo
