10/20/13 Pastor’s Message

October 28th, 2013 by helen in Pastor Message Archive 2013

From the Desk of Fr. Dennis

In me there is darkness, but with you there is light.  —Dietrich Bonhoeffer

A short verse, but it carries deep meaning:  God’s Light, Jesus Christ, is forever the Light of the world.

It is God Who keeps us going after we stumble.  When we want to give up, God is with us always.

Are we ready to let God be God?  Are we ready to let His love and peace embrace us?  A serious illness affecting ourselves or a loved one, struggle in a relationship, in the grip of addiction or family problems?

God wants to be our Light.

Online Giving Update

Results as of October 13: Total accounts:  39 Donations, week of Oct. 13: $480.00 This month thus far:  $925.00 Year to date:  $1240.00

Updates will be printed in future bulletins with a similar format as used above.  We want to capture the numbers of online accounts, but it must be noted that some of the above accounts are monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or different giving intervals.  The online format allows for maximum flexibility in giving levels, as well as their frequency.

I want to sincerely thank all those who have signed up thus far, and urge others to sign up as soon as possible.  My account was the first, and it took about 2-3 minutes to finalize it.

Our goal is to sign up fifty online accounts by Thanksgiving 2013 (so we are well on our way!), and one hundred by Easter 2014.  Use the link from our website, stjohnofthecrosschurch.org — it only takes a few minutes!  If you have any questions about the online giving process, please do not hesitate to contact the Parish House at (203) 758-2659.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Dennis J. Vincenzo
