From Fr. Dennis’ Desk

Those who have a sure hope, guaranteed by the Spirit, that they will rise again lay hold of what lies in the future as though it were already present.

Parish Meetings Part 2

The parish meetings, concluded on April 27, provided an opportunity to look ahead in hope to the future needs of the parish.  Here are a few highlights from the Financial Plan:

  • The sale of the former Rectory was discussed at some length.  Over the past year, efforts have been made to reduce the monthly cost to maintain the Rectory (utilities, groundskeeping, etc.)  This has yielded a drop from a monthly cost of $1200 to $675.  After discussion, those present agreed to petition the Archbishop to sell the former Rectory.  This produced a unanimity with the Finance Council and the Parish Council; a letter was sent to Archbishop Mansell, and we are presently waiting for a final answer.
  • The question arose as to what to do with the proceeds of the Rectory sale should it go through.  Many felt that some of the proceeds should go pay down the mortgage on the Parish House.  Others felt that some should go toward improvements on the cottage (behind the Parish House, where I currently live)…

 Mother’s Day Prayers

What a wonderful day it is today to celebrate our mothers, and to remember at our altar those mothers who are deceased.  If your mother is deceased, it does not matter whether she passed away recently or many many years ago;  she is still in our prayers and hearts.  All Masses this weekend are offered for all mothers living and deceased.  The fruits of the Masses are to benefit all of these wonderful women.

To all mothers and grandmothers, godmothers, and mothers to be:  we offer our heartiest congratulations!!  GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!

 Monsignor Regan’s 60th Anniversary

Please Mark your calendars!!!!

On Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., Msgr. John Regan will celebrate his 60th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood.  Our parish family has been so much a part of his priesthood.  As our former Pastor, he led this parish for 16 + years, and is so well-respected and well-loved.  Please join us for Mass at 2:00 p.m., followed by light refreshments in Father Fanning hall.  Come and wish Msgr. Regan congratulations on this momentous occasion.

United in the Risen Lord,

Father Dennis J. Vincenzo
