Christ Transforms

It is not the power of man which makes what is put before us the Body and Blood of Christ, but the power of Christ Himself who was crucified for us. The priest standing there in the place of Christ says the words, but their power and grace are from God. ‘This is my Body,’ he says and these words transform what lies before him. -St. John Chrysostom

As Catholics, we believe that the simple bread and ordinary wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, His Real Presence among us. Christ’s love for us transforms us, too!

At every celebration of the Eucharist, we become what we eat and drink – His Body. When Jesus proclaims “…whoever believes has eternal life. I am the Bread of Life,” He is speaking to all until the end of time.

How is it that our churches are not full to overflowing when we behold this glorious Truth??

In Christ’s transforming Love,

Fr. Dennis J. Vincenzo
