Religious Education News

Welcome to Jon McCabe

I am pleased to announce that our parish has a new Director of Religious Education, Mr. Jon McCabe.  Jon began working this past Monday, and he embarks on a journey with the youth of our parish family.  Jon lives in the valley, and arrives with many years of catechetical experience.  He is eager to work with our vibrant parish family, and to help guide our young people in learning about the wonders of our beautiful Catholic faith.    Jon is looking forward to collaborating with all of our devoted catechists and volunteers.  He will be responsible for directing all of the grades of religious education, from first grade through peer ministry, and oversee all aspects of youth ministry.

Jon brings a deep devotion to our faith, especially centered in the Eucharist.  He is a prayerful and gifted man.  I hope that many of you get a chance to welcome him, and wish him well in his new position.  Perhaps you may wish to send him an e-mail welcoming him.  Until we get our e-mail accounts realigned, you can reach him at: stjohn@stjohnofthecrosschurch.org or through our website at stjohnofthecrosschurch.org.

We are still in need of a few catechists for the 2012-13 year.  Why not consider volunteering a few hours a week?  You need not be an ‘expert,’ just love the faith.  Contact Jon if you are interested. Staff News  We offer our deepest sympathy to Annette Williams, our former Director of Religious Education, recently retired.  Annette’s dear mother, Mary Alessandrone, passed away a few weeks ago out of state.  Annette has just recently returned from the wake and funeral.  We offer her our prayerful support at this difficult time, and pray the consolation of Jesus, Who wept at the death of His friend Lazarus.  We will be having a memorial Mass for Mary so that we can support Annette, her husband Dave, and her family.  May Mary’s noble soul, and the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.

Deacon Steve Savarese and his wife Meg celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past Wednesday, July 25th.  On behalf of Deacon Mike, the staff, and all in the parish family, we pray God’s choicest blessings upon them.  May they grow always in the grace of the Sacrament of Matrimony.  CONGRATULATIONS!!

Full of good news about the Good News,

Fr. Dennis J. Vincenzo
