Easter Sunday

He Has Been Raised! He is not Here!

HAPPY EASTER to one and all, and to all people of good will!  The day has arrived – we mark the greatest event in human history:  the RESURRECTION of JESUS CHRIST! No longer dead, but alive!  Alive for us all, alive forever!!!

They entered the tomb, and found a young man sitting there, but they did not find the Body of Jesus.  His words are astounding:  “Do not be amazed!  You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified.  He has been raised;  He is not here!”

The “place where they laid Him” is now called the empty tomb.  This thrilling Gospel from Mark’s 16th chapter is proclaimed at every celebration of the Easter Vigil throughout the world: in every lofty Cathedral, every parish church, on battlefields and in adobe huts.  It echoes in the Holy Land, throughout theMiddle East, and everywhere Christians gather.

The tomb is emptied by God’s Love, and the Power of the Holy Spirit.  Jesus is no longer in the empty tomb, but the Risen Lord is on our altars, in our tabernacles and in our hearts. Everywhere the Eucharist is celebrated, the Risen Christ is truly present.

On this Easter Day, we pledge to allow ourselves to be shaped by the Holy Eucharist, to let it transform our lives.  Young and old alike, we are called to the Table to receive the Risen Lord.

Use this Easter Day and the fifty day Easter season to be renewed in your relationship with the Eucharist.  Come to the Table, attend Mass, and hear again the Living Word of God.

The tomb is empty – COME TO THE TABLE…

In my own name, and that of Deacon Mike, I wish you all a Happy and Holy Easter, and a beautiful Easter season.  You and your loved ones will be remembered at every Mass.

Yours in the Risen One, Fr. Dennis J. Vincenza
